Lowcountry Council of Governments

The Lowcountry Council of Governments provides creative regional solutions to Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper Counties. The organization serves as a resource to the 25 local governments in the region and connects those jurisdictions to specific state and federal programs.

We provide services in four primary areas:

  1. Aging & Disability Resource - Area Agency on Aging (AAA): Offers access and information on a broad range of senior living services
  2. Planning and Transportation: Provides demographic and statistical data and research, GIS, regional transportation/transit planning, regional water quality management, and local land-use planning
  3. Community & Economic Development: Facilitates community infrastructure grants, economic development grants and affordable housing programs and business loan programs
  4. Workforce Development: Delivers adult and youth job training and support services

Board Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month (January through October). Meetings are usually held in Point South; however, due to COVID, they are held via Zoom and are broadcast on the Lowcountry Council of Governments Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/lowcountrycog. Customarily, Board Meetings start at 6:30PM with fellowship at 6:00PM. At this time, virtual Board Meetings start at 6:00PM. Meetings last approximately ninety minutes.
