Group Short & Long Term Disability
Prudential is Beaufort County's provider for both Short Term and Long Term Disability Insurance.
SHORT TERM DISABILITY: Disability Income coverage provides benefits to replace a portion of your lost income if you have an illness or injury and are not able to work. Weekly Income Benefits help an employee with financial support when an illness or injury strikes and prevents them from working for a period of weeks. Short Term Disability Insurance is 100% employee paid through payroll deduction. Short Term Disability Insurance provides a 66.67% benefit, minus other income, up to a maximum weekly benefit of $500. There are two coverage options available to you:
- 14 Day Option: Benefit waiting period for disability caused by accidental injury or sickness: 14 days.
- 30 Day Option: Benefit waiting period for disability caused by accidental injury or sickness: 30 days.
LONG TERM DISABILITY: All full-time regular employees are granted long term disability insurance through Prudential. It is provided by Beaufort County. Regular full time employees become eligible for disability benefits after one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days of continuous sickness or accident disability in which the employee received no income. The monthly benefit amount is 60% of the employee's monthly salary.
