Beaufort County provides life insurance coverage for all full time regular employees. Full time regular employees are provided basic life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) policies. Both policies have a benefit of one times the annual salary through Prudential. The basic life policy has a convertibility option if the covered employee leaves employment.

In addition, Beaufort County provides a basic life insurance policy equivalent to one times the annual salary through the South Carolina Retirement System*.

In the event of death prior to the 1st of the month after hire, Beaufort County shall pay one month's salary to a full time regular employee's beneficiary or estate.

Additional supplemental life insurance is available for purchase at affordable rates.
