Solid Waste Pass Help and Information

Beaufort County's convenience center system was evaluated and a series of changes and updates have started to go into effect. The solid waste pass system was introduced to prevent out-of-county abuse of our waste collection locations as well as to deter contractors and commercial businesses from using the County centers. This pass is only available to Beaufort County Property Owners. There must be a livable dwelling unit on the property.

These changes come after months of evaluation, public comment, County Council input and feedback, all with the goal of keeping County Convenience Centers safe, environmentally compliant, and easily accessible, while saving County taxpayers money.

Solid waste pass applications can be found here: https://apps.beaufortcountysc.gov/SWRDecal/decal-reg.php

You can search for your account with either your street address, mailing address, AIN number or your last name.

  • When searching for your street address, please start by typing just the street number and street name and waiting for your search results to appear before typing anything further (i.e. “10 Maple” as opposed to “10 Maple Dr Beaufort SC 29901”).
  • If you choose to search by AIN, that number can be found on your tax bill for your residential property.
  • If you opt to search by your name please type last name first and then your first name with no comma (i.e. DOE JOHN).

These tips should clear up any issues you have, but if you still cannot find your account or the search results aren’t appearing:

Did you include your email address on your pass application? If so, you should have received a digital copy of your barcode in your email. If you can not find it in your inbox, it may have gone to your spam/junk folder. Please check your spam folder and search for “Convenience Center Digital Decal.” The digital copy allows you the option to print the barcode or save it and use it on your phone. This way you can use the barcode for other vehicles in the household. If you did not get the email, or need it to be resent you can use the following online search to find your registration, view the status, and resend your digital decal: https://apps.beaufortcountysc.gov/SWRDecal/search-registrations.php

Please fill out and submit the form found here, indicating that you cannot validate your email.

We will contact you to help you finish registration.

You are allowed 3 visits per week with your pass. A week starts on Sunday and runs through Saturday.

Full implementation of the pass program began on November 1, 2021. You must have an active pass to access the County Convenience Centers. Temporary passes will not be accepted.

If you are a renter and your house/apt/condo/etc. is owned by a person and not a commercial business then you will need to reach out to the property owner as they are the ones responsible for applying for the pass. If you have a property management company, that manages the property for the owner, they may be able to apply for the owner if their contract with the owner allows.

If you live in an apartment complex that is owned by a commercial business, they are responsible for providing trash disposal. If you live at one of these complex and need to dispose of something larger than is allowed, you can take the large items to the Oakwood Landfill (751 Strobhart Rd, Ridgeland, SC 29936).

All Beaufort County residents including renters will still be able to access recycling. Recycling to all will be available at Shanklin (80 Shanklin Rd, Beaufort, SC 29906) and Bluffton (104 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910).

Commercial apartment complexes and commercial businesses can set up their own account with haulers and the landfill for their trash disposal. A list of haulers can be found at: https://www.beaufortcountysc.gov/solid-waste-and-recycle/convenience-centers/residential-curbside.html?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery.

You can still enter the centers using the digital barcode.

Yes. You will pass a decal to enter the HHI Convenience Center just like all other centers.

When you pull into the convenience centers, attendants will be scanning each vehicle’s pass to allow entrance into the center. If you have not met the maximum visits, you will be allowed to enter. If you have already visited the centers 3 times within a week, the scanner will let the attendant know and you will not be able to enter the center. Your weekly visits will start over on Sundays.

These changes come after months of evaluation, public comment, County Council input and feedback, all with the goal of keeping County Convenience Centers safe, environmentally compliant, and easily accessible, while saving County taxpayers money.
