Highlights and Actions: Beaufort County Council Caucus and Beaufort County Council Meeting

Beaufort County Council Caucus was held Monday evening. Below are some highlights from the Caucus meeting:
- Pursuant to legal advice related to discussion of employment, appointment, discipline or release of a person regulated by a public body (Assistant County Administrator positions) Council voted to authorize the County Administrator to accept the severance agreement with the terms discussed in Executive Session. This agreement is due to the loss of a position through staff restructuring and reorganization.
- Pursuant to legal advice related to Redfish Holdings vs Beaufort County, Council voted to authorize the Deputy County Attorney and outside counsel to accept the settlement with the terms discussed in Executive Session.
- Pursuant to legal advice related to Beaufort County vs David Coleman, Council voted to authorize the County Administrator to accept the agreement with the terms discussed in Executive Session.
The Beaufort County Council met Monday evening. Below are some highlights from the agenda:
- Third reading of an ordinance authorizing the County Administrator to execute all necessary documents to transfer right of way back to property owners associated with the Ribaut Road sidewalk project in Port Royal
- Third reading of an ordinance authorizing the County Administrator to execute all necessary documents for the acceptance of S-859 located at SC 462 and SC 170, which is to be abandoned by SCDOT
- Third reading of an ordinance amending an ordinance conveying property to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for the development of affordable housing and medical offices in Bluffton--333 and 335 Buckwalter Parkway.
- First reading of an ordinance authorizing the County Administrator execute necessary documents for the right of way for Cherokee Farms Road
- First reading of an ordinance authorizing the County Administrator to enter into a lease agreement with the Dale-Lobeco Community Center for the real property located at 15 Community Center Road
- Council voted to accept a resolution to commission on Solid Waste and Recycling Enforcement Officer
- Council voted on a joint resolution of Beaufort County and Town of Hilton Head Island to redefine the US 278 Corridor Project to align with available funding
From the Consent Agenda
- Council voted to reappoint Thomas Sheahan, Nicholas Mesenburg, Leslie Flory, Anne Esposito, Howard Ackerman and Christopher Butler to the Airports Board
- Council Voted to award a contract to Waste Management of South Carolina for municipal solid waste disposal
- Council voted to purchase six waste compactor units for Beaufort County Convenience Centers
The next regular County Council meeting will be Monday, March 24 at 6 p.m., at Buckwalter Recreation Center.
