Two Council committees met Tuesday. Here are agenda highlights from both meetings.

Finance, Administration and Economic Development

  • FY2024 Annual Comprehensive Finance Report by Auditor David Irwin from Walden and Jenkins introduced by County CFO Pinky Harriott

  • Chief Financial Officer Report, CFO Pinky Harriott. Watch her presentation here.
  • Committee voted to forward to Council a resolution authorizing the County Administrator to execute an amendment to an intergovernmental agreement regarding affordable housing. Presentations by Dick Stewart and Beaufort Jasper Housing Trust Executive Director Claude Hicks. Watch their presentations here.
  • Discussion of State A-Tax Review. Watch the discussion here.
  • The Committee recommended to Council the reappointments of Thomas Sheahan, Nicholas Mesenburg, Leslie Flory, Anne Esposito, Howard Ackerman and Christopher Butler to Airports Board for a two year term to expire February 2027.
  • The committee recommended to Council the reappointment of Paul Jernigan to the Board of Assessment Appeals for a 4 year term to expire February 2029.

Public Facilities Committee

  • Voted to move to County Council a request to purchase six waste compactor units for Beaufort County Convenience Centers
  • Voted to move to County Council an ordinance authorizing the County Administrator to execute necessary documents for the acceptance of right of way for Cherokee Farms Road association with a development agreement dated December 15, 2014
  • Voted to move to County Council an ordinance authorizing the County Administrator to enter into a lease agreement with the Big Estate Jenkins Community Center for real property located at 132 Booker T. Washington Circle
  • Voted to move to County Council a resolution authorizing the demolition of a structure and funding for demolition of a structure on Beaufort County owned property located at 2 Mullet Street.

The next Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee meeting will be Monday, March 17, at 2 p.m.

The next Public Facilities Committee meeting will be Monday, March 17, at 4 p.m.

The next regular County Council meeting will be Monday, February 24, at 6 p.m. at the Burton Wells Recreation Center.
