Disaster Assistance Teams Onsite to Help Daufuskie Island Residents Navigate FEMA Assistance

As part of continued efforts to recover from Hurricane Helene, an expanded Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) team will be on Daufuskie Island today (December 6, 2024) and tomorrow (December 7, 2024) to assist local residents with their FEMA applications. 

The DSA team will be stationed at the Youth Services building of First Union African Baptist Church, at 239 School Road (map). The hours of operation will be 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day.

The DSA team can assist local residents with signing up for disaster assistance, and additional FEMA staff will be on hand to assist with uploading documents

Disaster Survivor Assistance Teams are in Beaufort County to:

  • Help residents apply for assistance
  • Assess and report critical needs

The quickest way to apply for disaster assistance is to go online to DisasterAssistance.gov. You can also apply using the FEMA App for mobile devices or calling toll-free 800-621-3362. The telephone line is open every day and help is available in many languages. If you use a relay service, such as Video Relay Service (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.
