As we celebrate Thanksgiving week, a time for gratitude and giving back to our communities, it is fitting to spotlight the efforts of the tenants at Beaufort Executive Airport who rose to the occasion in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Without being asked or tasked, local aircraft owners came together to provide crucial aid to storm victims in Western North Carolina, embodying the spirit of citizens helping citizens.
In the weeks following Hurricane Helene, Beaufort Executive Airport became a vital hub for disaster relief. The airport’s tenants volunteered their time, aircraft, and fuel to deliver over 6,000 pounds of essential supplies, including baby formula, hand sanitizer, and water. Over the course of two weeks, these pilots accumulated more than 90 flight hours to ensure that every donation reached those in need.
“This was truly a grassroots effort,” said Steve Parry, Deputy Airports Director of Beaufort County, reflecting on the tenants’ contributions. “Our tenants are incredibly humble, and their dedication to helping others deserves to be recognized. They turned their resources and skills into a lifeline for communities in crisis.”
Beaufort County would like to extend its gratitude to these individuals whose generous actions and willingness to step up in a time of need remind us of the importance of helping one another.
