As part of the Laurel Bay Pathway project, the right exit lane coming off US 21 onto Laurel Bay Blvd was removed. The Spanish Moss Trail crossed this traffic lane approximately 675’ from Laurel Bay Boulevard.
The asphalt crossing portion of trail will be replaced with a concrete trail on Friday, November 1.
The pathway along Laurel Bay Blvd will be placed at the same time. During this period, the Spanish Moss Trail will be closed beginning Friday, November 1, and reopened once the concrete has cured to an appropriate level.
Drivers traveling through the area are asked to please be mindful of the traffic control team and crews working within the area.
The project is part of the Beaufort County Penny Sales Tax Program, using US 21 and SC 116 identifiers in addition to the street names provided.
In addition to sales tax funding the project utilizes a Military Enhancement Plan Fund Grant from the SC Department of Veterans Affairs for the amount of $3,392,328.
