Highlights and Actions: Public Facilities and Safety Committee and Special Called Beaufort County Council Meeting

Council 2024

Wednesday, September 18, 2024 9:13 AM

The Beaufort County Public Facilities and Safety Committee met Monday and here are some highlights:

  • County Project Update from Assistant County Administrator of Public Safety John Robinson
    • Tallulah McGee gave an update on wildlife/human interactions due to destruction of their natural habitat because of all the building. She noted the increase around the County of coyote sightings and attacks and attributed that to nature being out of balance due to the habitat destruction. She's reached out to partner with SCDNR to monitor dens, activity and coyote attacks. She stated that this is an issue of concern, that officials need to be aware of it and begin monitoring it.
  • Recommend approval to Council of an ordinance authorizing the County Administrator to enter a lease agreement with Lowcountry Regional Transportation Authority for property located at 316 Castle Rock Road
  • Recommend approval to Council of a transfer of funds between airports accounts, contract award to Gulf Stream Construction for Beaufort County Executive Airport Sitework Construction Services
  • Recommend approval to Council of contract award to Gulf Stream Construction for Beaufort County Government Center parking lot

The Beaufort County Council held a special called meeting immediately following the Public Facilities and Safety Committee meeting Monday afternoon. The Pine Island issue was the only agenda item.
