It is with immense gratitude that we announce the retirement of County Attorney Thomas Keaveny from the Beaufort County Legal Team in early October. Mr. Keaveny has dedicated almost four decades to practicing law, with nine of those years spent in service to Beaufort County and its residents.

From assisting with vital infrastructure projects like the prompt 2015 completion of SC 170 widening, which had been delayed for more than a year, to facilitating the 2018 Transportation Sales Tax Referendum and working tirelessly with FEMA to secure reimbursement for private property debris removal after Hurricane Matthew, Mr. Keaveny has been a guiding force for Beaufort County.

Looking ahead to his next chapter, Thomas says, “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve alongside fellow staff, esteemed members of County Council, other elected officials, boards and commissions. I will miss colleagues, members of Council, and others but I look forward to the opportunities that retirement will bring.”

“We are deeply grateful for the exceptional service and unwavering dedication Mr. Keaveny has provided to Beaufort County,” remarked Beaufort County Council Chairman Joseph Passiment. “His legal expertise and counsel have played a pivotal role in the success of this County and Council. We will miss him greatly and hope that the entire community of Beaufort will join us in sending our best wishes to Mr. Keaveny as he embarks on his well-deserved retirement.”
