As part of the continued transition to new subsidized ferry provider, Lowcountry Ferry, Beaufort County has an important update regarding the introduction of the new Qualified Discount Rider (QDR) card for Daufuskie Island residents and property owners.

Beaufort County understands there is currently a high volume of applications and cards that have not been processed. Ahead of the QDR Card deadline, we are providing a grace period for those individuals that have filed their applications by April 30, 2024 but have not yet received their cards. As a reminder, the newly issued QDR card is required in order for residents to receive the subsidized discounted rate.

To begin the process of obtaining a new QDR card, Daufuskie Island residents may visit the Subsidized Ferry Service to Daufuskie Island Application for Photo Identification Card on the Beaufort County website or call Palmetto Breeze at 843-757-5782, Ext 2.

Additionally, for those with positive Palmetto Breeze balances: Beaufort County has created a process for issuing balance refunds. Please email PBPassRefund@bcgov.net the following information:

• Full Names of any additional passholders within the same household

• City, State, ZIP
• Phone Number
• Email Address
