Highlights and Actions: Public Facilities and Safety Committee and Beaufort County Council

The Beaufort County Public Facilities and Safety Committee met Monday and here are some highlights:
- Presentation from Beaufort County Mosquito Control
- Presentation on the updated status of the Broad River Fishing Pier
- Approved to send to Council an ordinance authorizing conveyance of parcels from Beaufort County to SCDOT for in connection with SC 802/Sam's Point Road Right Turn Lane
- Approved to send to Council an ordinance authorizing the purchase of a portion of real property abutting Hilton Head Island Airport
- Approved to send to Council a resolution authorizing the Interim County Administrator to pursue condemnation of parcels associated with right of way acquisition for a pathway on Depot Road as part of the 2018 Once Cent Referendum
- Approved to send to Council a request to purchase a TEK84 Body Scanner for the Detention Center
The Beaufort County Council held their regular meeting beginning at 5 p.m., Monday evening.
Below are some highlights from that meeting:
- Presentation of proclamation recognizing Penn Center 1862 Circle Week
- Presentation of proclamation recognizing Dr. John Coaxum
- Update on SC State Budget discussions and funding opportunities by State Senator Tom Davis
- First reading of an ordinance to accept and appropriate funds from the SC Opioid Settlement Funds
- Approved a resolution to name the Port Royal Library Branch in honor of former Town of Port Royal May Samuel E. Murray
- Public hearing and second reading of an ordinance amending an ordinance establishing a road use fee
From the Consent Agenda:
- Approved to undertake due diligence and discussion/negotiations for the proposed fee simple purchase of real property known as Wallace Creek
- Approved for request to disburse allocated ARPA-Good Neighbor Funds to the Town of Bluffton
- Approved request to purchase one new 36 passenger bus model for Parks and Recreation
Matters arising out of Executive Session:
- Pursuant to SC Code discussions of negotiations incident to proposed contractual arrangements and potential purchasing of property (Project Bravo)
