The Beaufort County Public Facilities and Safety Committee met Monday and here are some highlights:

• Report by Beaufort County Detention Center Director Col. Quandara Grant
• Approval for a first reading of an ordinance amending an ordinance establishing a road use fee
• Approval of a resolution and intergovernmental agreement between Beaufort County and Hilton Head Island for William Hilton Parkway safety and pedestrian improvement
• Approval for a request to purchase 48 recycling roll-off containers
• Approval to purchase 13 waste compactor units for Beaufort County Convenience Centers

The Beaufort County Council held their regular meeting beginning at 5 p.m., Monday evening. 

Below are some highlights from that meeting:

• Report on investigation, findings and recommendations by Haynsworth, Sinkler Boyd, P.A.
• Report from Interim County Administrator John Robinson on Administration's actions as a result of the investigation, report and recommendations of Haynsworth, Sinkler and Boyd, P.A.
• Public hearing and second reading of an ordinance to amend Beaufort County's Budget Ordinance for FY24 to transfer from the fund balance to the General Fund to cover unbudgeted costs for Daufuskie Island Ferry Operations, the purchase of property located at 333 and 335 Buckwalter Parkway
• Public hearing and second reading of an ordinance amending the hospitality tax
• Second reading of an ordinance appropriating funds from the State A-Tax funds recommended by the State A-Tax Committee in compliance with the requirements of SC Code of Laws
• Approval of a resolution authorizing the Interim County Administrator to execute the documents necessary and provide funds to contribute to the procurement of a conservation easement in Jasper County known collectively as Gregorie Neck
• Motion to consider amending previously adopted resolution authorizing funds to Lowcountry Area Transportation Study (LATS) for the County's portion of the local match for the Northern Transit Study, Bluffton Parkway Extension Study, and Bluffton Parkway Flyover
  • Amended motion to exclude funding for 5B 
• Approval of a resolution authorizing the Interim County Administrator to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with Beaufort Jasper Water Sewer Authority for construction/installation of Lobeco/Morgan Road Waterline Project 
• Approval of a resolution authorizing the Interim County Administrator to accept a grant for SC Department of Agriculture to repair and construct a commercial dock and upgrade existing processing and grading buildings at Gay Fish Company
• Approval of a resolution authorizing the Interim County Administrator to approve an affordable housing fee subsidy of $11,765 requested by Lowcountry Habitat for Humanity for the construction of three affordable residential units in Northern Beaufort County

The next Public Facilities and Safety Committee meeting will be Monday, April 22, at 3 p.m.

The next regular County Council meeting will be Monday, April 8, at 5 p.m.
