Board of Voter Registration and Elections for Beaufort County Director Marie Smalls recently received the Moore Award for her years of service and dedication to election integrity, implementation of upgraded electronic voting programs, and ensuring on a whole that voters and candidates can be confident that the elections process is efficient, accurate and accountable.
The Moore Award is presented each year at the SCARE Annual Legislative Conference to a member of SCARE who best exemplifies the spirit of the organization through their continued unselfish giving of time and efforts to make SCARE a more educated, concerned group that promotes training in individuals, as well as each county. The Moore Award is the highest award the SCARE organization presents.
The Moore Award was established in memory of Betty Moore, who worked tirelessly to form a state association of registration and election officials, and her daughter, Marsha. This award is fashioned after the J. Mitchell Graham Award of the Association of Counties. The award is presented to a member of SCARE who best exemplifies the spirit of the organization through their continued unselfish giving of time and efforts to make the Association a more educated, concerned group that promotes training in individuals, as well as each county.
