Highlights and Actions: Finance, Administration, and Economic Development Committee, Public Facilities and Safety Committee and Beaufort County Council

The Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee met Monday and here are some highlights from the agenda:
- Approval of first reading of ordinance to amend the County budget to cover unbudgeted costs
- Presentation of Economic Development Corporations FY25 Product Development Plan
- Discussion of additional supplemental pay for County poll workers due to difficulty fully staffing polling locations (Committee voted to approve additional pay for poll workers. This item will move forward to County Council)
- Approval of first reading of ordinance amending Hospitality Tax in code of ordinances
- Approval of first reading of ordinance amending Accommodations Tax (3%)
- Decision to hold and refer back to Finance Committee the ordinance appropriating state A-TAX funds as recommended by State A-TAX Committee in compliance with requirement of SC Code of Laws. A special called Finance Committee meeting will be scheduled Monday, March 11 with this item on the agenda.
The Beaufort County Public Facilities and Safety Committee met Monday and here are some highlights:
- Report by Assistant County Administrator Jared Fralix on transportation, engineering and road projects
- Presentation and update on 2018 One Cent Transportation Sales Tax project updates
- Approval to enter intergovernmental agreement between Beaufort County and SCDOT for County transportation projects
- Recommend approval of a resolution to accept Transportation Alternative Set Aside Program Fund Grant from USDOT/Federal Highway Administration for Alljoy Road Sidewalk Project
- Approve request to accept Scheper Lane (private road) into County Road inventory
The Beaufort County Council held their regular meeting beginning at 5 p.m., Monday evening.
Below are some highlights from that meeting:
- First reading of ordinance authorizing the Interim County Administrator to convey a portion of property on Beach City Road, Hilton Head Island
- Approval of resolution authorizing funds to Lowcountry Area Transportation Study (LATS) for the County's portion of the local match for the Northern Transit Study, Bluffton Parkway Extension Study, and Bluffton Parkway Flyover
Highlights from the Consent Agenda:
- Third reading of an ordinance appropriating 15% of FY24 Gross State Accommodations Tax Revenue to development of workforce housing
- Second reading of ordinance authorizing the Interim County Administrator to enter into a lease agreement with SCDOT for property located under the Cross Island Parkway adjacent to Broad Creek Boat Landing
No matters arose out of Executive Session.
The next Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee meeting will be Monday, March 11, at 1 p.m.
The next Public Facilities and Safety Committee meeting will be Monday, March 25, at 3 p.m.
