Beaufort County would like to clear up any misconceptions regarding improvements the County is currently making or planning to make to School Road, Church Road, and Francis Jones Blvd on Daufuskie Island. The County will be installing 6 inches of compacted rock to the current road footprint of each road. The roads will not be widened and no trees will be removed. The County’s goal is to maintain and preserve the natural aesthetic beauty of the areas while providing more durable roads for the community.

Beaufort County is aware that Daufuskie Island residents have concerns about Prospect Road and the litigation that is currently pending. The County has no intention of widening, paving or cutting trees on Prospect Road and current litigation does not seek to accomplish that.
