As part of Beaufort County’s continued effort to improve County maintained dirt roads, Contract #54 is intended to install graded aggregate base on multiple dirt roads on Daufuskie Island.

These include Church Road, School Road, and Frances Jones Road. The County’s contractor, J.H. Hiers Construction, will mobilize equipment and begin grading operations the week of September 18.

Materials will be delivered by barge beginning the week of October 9. Barges will be moored and unloaded at the public boat landing.

Please take care and expect increased activity at the landing for approximately 2 weeks. The boat landing will stay open and operational during this time. After unloading, the materials will be stored at the Frances Jones Park during construction.

The project should be completed by the end of 2023. All roads will remain open during construction, but please exercise caution while construction is ongoing.
