Beaufort County is pleased to announce the promotion of Katherine Mead to the position of Human Resources Director. Mead has been with Beaufort County since 2013, serving as the Human Resources Deputy Director and more recently as Interim Human Resources Director. Her wealth of experience in the field and her commitment to the County’s mission make her the ideal candidate for the position.

According to Beaufort County Administrator, Eric Greenway, "Katherine has been an integral part of the Human Resources team since she joined us in 2013. She has a deep understanding of the County's operations and culture, and a passion for supporting our employees. Her promotion is well-deserved, and I look forward to seeing her continued leadership in this new role."

As the new Human Resources Director, Mead will oversee the County's personnel policies and procedures, benefits, and employee training and development programs. Her focus will be on ensuring that Beaufort County is attracting and retaining the best talent to serve the community.

Mead holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and previously served as the Assistant Area Director for Beaufort and Jasper County with the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce.

Mead's promotion is effective immediately. Beaufort County is confident that she will excel in her new position and continue to make positive contributions to the County's operations and the community it serves.
