The Beaufort County Opiate Abatement Management Team (BCOAMT) announces Notice of Funding Opportunity for FY 2023 available for opiate abatement strategies.

“The goal is to put opiate abatement dollars out in the community to help with the fight against opiate addiction and related consequences,” said Steve Donaldson, Director of Beaufort County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Department.

BCOAMT has begun accepting applications for the fall cycle of FY 2023.

Estimated available funds total $1,000,000 to be awarded to the Beaufort County community by the South Carolina Opioid Settlement Funds from the 2022 National Opioids Settlement and future settlements. The grants will be funded for up to two years.

Awards may be distributed as:

  • 2 awards for up to $100,000 per year for 2 years = $200,000 total award
  • 4 awards for up to $50,000 per year for 2 years = $100,000 total award
  • 4 awards up to $25,000 per year for 2 years = $50,000 total award

The grants will be available to applicants who demonstrate gaps, evidence-based strategies for addressing gaps, and those with sound goals and evaluation plans for opiate abatement. Grants are limited to Beaufort County Departments, city or townships, Education Organizations, Public Housing Authorities, or Nonprofits with a 501(c)(3) status.

Priority will be given to those who address opiate issues in Beaufort County that relate to prevention and recovery, to equip those impacted with necessary resources to provide innovative interventions to reduce opiate issues, address unmet needs and reduce opioid-related deaths.
