Beaufort County Could See Potential Severe Weather This Afternoon
Thursday, March 18, 2021 11:59 AM
National Weather Service Charleston has issued a severe weather alert for today, March 18:
A line of thunderstorms will move from west to east across the region this afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west. Severe thunderstorms are likely within the line with damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes all being possible. A few strong tornadoes could also occur. The risk for severe weather should end by early evening.
Recent rainfall has left the ground soft, which raises the potential for downed power lines and trees.
Residents are urged to take caution.
Please secure loose items in the yard and identify a safe room in your house in the case of a tornado warning.
