TO BECOME A NOTARY PUBLIC OR RENEW A NOTARY COMMISSION: 

You must be a registered voter in the county to which you apply to become a notary public. If you do not know your voter registration number, contact your Board of Voter Registration & Elections office or visit www.scvotes.gov for this information.

• Carefully type or print all information requested on the top portion of your application and sign in the presence of a notary public.
• Attach a $25.00 check or money order payable to "SC Secretary of State" to your application.
• Mail the original application/renewal form and check or money order to your County Delegation office for the necessary legislative signatures. The delegation office will forward your application and check/money order to the Secretary of State's Office. Please allow up to six weeks processing time. Beaufort County residents must mail their applications to:

• Upon receipt, you must enroll your commission with Beaufort County Clerk of Court within 15 days of being commissioned. There is a $10.00 registration fee. Acceptable forms of payment include Cashier's Check, Money Orders, Business Checks, and Cash (exact change only) - No Personal Checks Accepted. The Clerk of Court's Office is located in the Beaufort County Court House at: 102 Ribaut Rd, Suite 208, Beaufort, SC 29902.
