Preliminary Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps


As a participant in the National Flood Insurance Program, Beaufort County required to use the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), periodically updated by FEMA, to regulate development in the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). The current effective FIRMs for the Beaufort County unincorporated area were published in 1986.

FEMA has recently released preliminary digital flood insurance rate maps for coastal areas of Beaufort County.The new maps are expected to become effective in June of 2019 - subject to change upon to FEMA approval - and are now available for viewing using the following link:
