Highlights and Actions: Community Services Committee and Natural Resources Committee

The Beaufort County Community Services Committee and Natural Resources Committee met Monday and here are some highlights:
- John Robinson, Assistant County Administrator-Public Safety gave a brief update on funding a fourth shift of EMS personnel in FY26. County Chief Financial Officer Pinky Harriott, County Human Resources Director Katherine Mead all presented financial and personnel impacts to the proposed shift adjustments. - County EMS Department Director Donna Owenby gave a presentation discussing the stress and morale challenges facing her department--all while maintaining top quality care and response time to all of Beaufort County.
Watch the presentation here. - Recommend to full Council the reappointments of George Rafferty and Geoffrey Brunning to Daufuskie Island First District Board
- Recommend to full Council the reappointment of Alan Arsenau to County Parks and Recreation Board
The Beaufort County Natural Resources Committee met immediately after Community Services Committee. Here are some highlights from the agenda:
- Recommend to Council denial of an ordinance amending the zoning map for 49.16 acres on Okatie Highway T2 Rural to T2R neighborhood mixed use
- Recommend to Council denial of an ordinance amending the zoning map for 121.43 acres on Okatie Highway from T2 Rural to T4 neighborhood center and neighborhood open using a village place type overlay
- Recommend to full Council an ordinance to permit the use of animal services-clinic/hospital on Daufuskie Island
- Recommend to full Council the reappointments of Eugene Myers, Cecily McMillan, and Ed Pappas to the Planning Commission for a three year term
- Recommend to full Council the reappointments of Natalie Harvey and Katrina Epps to the Historic Preservation Review Board for a four year term
