Due to last week's winter ice storm, the Highway 278 County Council Workshop has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 29, at 3 p.m. The meeting will be held in County Council Chambers, 100 Ribaut Road (map).

The workshop will include a discussion with all interested stakeholders and provide updates on the project's status. These updates will focus on major developments from the past six months, particularly addressing the approximately $190 million funding shortfall.

Following the recent failure of the Transportation Sales Tax referendum, the State Infrastructure Bank (SIB) and the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) have set a deadline of Monday, March 31, for submitting a finalized project and funding plan.

Additionally, all project agreements between the County, SIB, SCDOT, and the Town of Hilton Head Island will be reviewed and included in the supporting materials.
