Beaufort County Recognizes National EMS Week May 19-May 25

May 19 through May 25 is National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week. In honor of that, on behalf of Beaufort County Council, Council Member Dawson presented the department with a proclamation recognizing all EMS staff at last Monday's County Council meeting.

Beaufort County EMS provides high-quality, emergent patient care for citizens and visitors of Beaufort County, providing transport to local area hospitals. Our team consists of highly trained professionals who are certified by the National Registry Emergency Medical Technicians as either an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced - Emergency Medical Technician (A-EMT) or Paramedic.
EMS personnel use state-of-the-art medical equipment on their ambulances, with frequent training allowing personnel to remain proficient in the latest medical technology and treatment options, for all age ranges including pediatric, adult, and geriatric. Some of the equipment Beaufort County EMS ambulances carry includes the Physio Control Lifepak 15, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), the LUCAS Chest Compression System, Air-Traq Video Laryngoscope, and Handtevy Pediatric Emergency Standards, among others.
County EMS personnel are fully prepared to handle any emergency with the utmost confidence and care.
Beaufort County EMS also performs several ancillary missions, which include:
- Tactical medical support as imbedded members of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team
- Direct support to local disaster recovery and catastrophic events as members of the Low Country Regional Medical Assistance Team (RMAT),
In addition, they also participate in comprehensive training programs educating interested individuals on how to perform Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Stop-the-Bleed, appropriate Narcan administration.
