Beaufort County continues to be focused on projects that will best serve the public and support more efficient practices. With those goals in mind, County staff reviewed the current real properties owned by Beaufort County. Following a thorough review, County staff identified several properties as surplus properties.
“The current forward-thinking administration coupled with more efficient operations, has provided staff the opportunity to identify surplus property owned by the County,” said Brittany Ward, Deputy Attorney for Beaufort County. “We identified parcels that no longer serve a viable purpose for the County and would be better used if sold to the public.”
On December 13, 2021, County staff received approval from the County Council for these properties to be identified as surplus property and received the authority to sell them to the public for fair market value. The properties range from less than an acre to 10+/- acres, and locations range from northern Beaufort County to Pritchardville in the southern portion of the County. The sale of these surplus properties will bring additional funds to the County both through the sale and future tax revenue.
County staff continues to review and assess the current real property owned by Beaufort County, and will potentially be seeking approval from County Council to take similar action on other properties throughout the County.
