A task force comprised of community members from northern Beaufort County is seeking input from interested citizens on bringing more of a community focus to the Charles Lind Brown Center, often called by its previous name, the Greene Street Gym.
To solicit more feedback, an easy-to-use QR code is now available. Open the camera app on a cell phone, get close as if you are photographing the code, and when asked if you want to go to the survey, tap on it. Users will immediately be taken to the survey.
The survey will close Wednesday, August 18.
The Charles Lind Brown Center, which is in the Northwest Quadrant in the City of Beaufort, is operated by Beaufort County Parks & Recreation Department. It has a pool, an indoor and outdoor basketball court, a small playground, various classrooms, meeting rooms, a kitchen, offices, and restrooms.
The task force has presented to City of Beaufort officials and is partnering with Beaufort County on how best to revitalize the center’s relevance as a community asset. As a first step, members have put together a survey seeking input from residents about the kinds of services, activities, and events they would like to see at the center.
J. Edward Allen, the former Beaufort County Coroner, is the chairman of the task force. Beaufort City Councilman Mitch Mitchell is helping to facilitate the group and its outreach to local governments.
For more information about the survey, contact Mitch Mitchell at 425-503-0949 or Ed Allen at 843-812-0526.
