Council Member Mark Lawson Hosting an Informational Meeting Thursday, July 1 to Discuss Upgrades to Bluffton’s Alljoy Community

Council Member Mark Lawson will host an informational meeting about proposed upgrades to the Alljoy Community Thursday, July 1, at 6 p.m. Beaufort County Administrator Eric Greenway will also be on hand to answer questions. The meeting will be held at the Bluffton Recreation Center, 61B Ulmer Road, Bluffton (map).
Five topics of concern that directly impact the Alljoy community will be discussed:
Pedestrian/Bike Path: Previous to the 2018 One Cent Sales Tax Referendum a study was done and the Alljoy Road Communities responded for a need for a pedestrian/bike path along Alljoy Road due to safety concerns along this road.
Water and Sewer Service Expansion: Because Beaufort County does not provide water or sewer services, BJWSA has listed the Alljoy Communities is on their Capital Improvement list. An informational meeting will be set up at a future date and will include a representative from BJWSA.
Drainage: An informational meeting will be set up at a future date with County Stormwater Department and a representative from SCDOT to discuss the status of the ditches, standing water, existing drainage, and long-term solutions and short term answers.
Alljoy Beach Renourishment: The County working on the preliminary paperwork for this project. Many agencies will be involved due to the environmental impact and the project is expected to take 9 months for permitting. The project is expected to cost $200,000.
Alljoy Public Dock: The County is currently developing a Boat Landing Master Plan. The plan will bring back recommendations, identify needed repairs, upgrades and other recommendations. Currently the County is negotiating the contract with a company to do the research, study and provide draft recommendations.
