Beaufort County’s Detention Center Director, Colonel Quandara Grant was named 2020 Jail Administrator of the Year by The South Carolina Jail Administrators Association.
“As director of the Beaufort County Detention Center, it has been an honor to work with such a great group of professionals. Senior Command Staff, the Corrections Officers—all the staff members here—are a team of committed, talented individuals who bring their best to work here every day. I’m proud to lead this team and am honored to be named Jail Administrator of the Year,” said Grant.
Colonel Grant is cited for her leadership skills not only as director of Beaufort County’s Detention Center, but in pursuing additional training and skill development as leadership qualities are the most important component within the criminal justice system. She was nominated by Assistant County Administrator and Director of Public Safety Philip Foot.
“I was proud to nominate Colonel Grant and am even more proud that she was named Jail Administrator of the Year,” said Foot. “Col. Grant has demonstrated the skills to succeed, created an environment within the Detention Center that encourages her officers to succeed, pursue training and develop leadership skills of their own. Building relationship skills is crucial in the detention center environment and this allows our staff to work more efficiently as a team under Col. Grant’s leadership.”
“This is such an honor and I appreciate Mr. Foot for nominating me,” said Colonel Grant.
Colonel Grant attended the National Jail Leadership Command Academy in Texas—a collaborative effort between the American Jail Association and the Correctional Management Institute of Texas that provides training, preparation and development of leadership skills for those pursuing senior leadership and command positions within the criminal justice system.
