At 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, The County Channel will air the opening ceremony and closing remarks from the Protest and March for Justice held this weekend in Beaufort.
The peaceful protest, organized by ret-Maj. Gen. Harold “Mitch” Mitchell, was held June 21 at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park and attended by hundreds of residents.
The event began with speeches from community leaders, including Beaufort County Council member York Glover, who represents parts of Beaufort, Lady’s Island, St. Helena Island and Parris Island.
A silent march followed to honor the lives lost as a result of racism.
The County Channel is accessible on Comcast 2, Hargray 9 and 113, as well as Spectrum 1304. The memorial can also be watched live on The County Channel’s website at www.beaufortcountysc.gov/thecountychannel.
