BURNT CHURCH ROAD IMPROVEMENTS PUBLIC INPUT MEETING

Public Meeting:

The meeting was held on Thursday, November 17, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., at the Bluffton Recreation Center gymnasium, 61B Ulmer Road, Bluffton, SC. No formal presentation was made. Representatives from the Project Team were available to answer questions and receive input regarding the proposed project. The deadline for providing comments was December 16, 2022.

Purpose:

The project corridor extends along Burnt Church Road approximately one mile from Alljoy Road/Bridge Street northeast to Bluffton Parkway. The proposed project was identified for further evaluation and design based on the local community’s prior support of bicycle and pedestrian enhancements in the corridor, and identification of needed improvements in the Beaufort County Comprehensive Plan. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity to discuss the proposed Burnt Church Road Improvements project individually with representatives of the Project Team. Another purpose of the meeting is to gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the area. Beaufort County is seeking input relative to the proposed improvements and the project corridor.

Process:

Tentative project schedules will be discussed. Maps of the project study area and conceptual alternatives will be available, and participants may ask questions and provide comments regarding the possible social, economic and environmental effects of the project. Property owners and business owners on or near the project area are urged to attend.
