b'Sales Tax Advisory Committee Established to Develop Recommen-dations to County Council Regarding Future Sales Tax ReferendumA Sales Tax Advisory Committee was established in June of 2023 to pro-vide County Council with information that identifies the need and, where required the specific projects for various referenda questions. The sales tax proceeds would fund a series of critical transportation and mobility projects and programs vital to the health and safety of County residents and visitors. The committees recommendations were presented to and accepted unani-mously by Council on December 11, 2023.Updated Development Impact Fees Program ImplementedBeaufort County announced the launch of its revised Impact Fee Program in June. This revised Impact Fee Program aims to address the evolving needs of our County by updating fees which are applied to new development in an effort to help pay for the costs which new developments place on infrastructure and public services.Under the revised Impact Fee Program, developers will be required to pay im-pact fees based on the projected impact of their projects on infrastructure and public services. These funds will be dedicated to vital investments in areas such as transportation, parks, libraries, and utilities. By ensuring that new developments bear their fair share of the cost, we can protect the interests of existing taxpayers and sustain the high quality of life for which Beaufort County is renowned.This program signifies our commitment to maintaining sustainable growth that aligns with the Countys long-term vision. This agreement serves to support operations at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (MCRD Parris Island), the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), and the Naval Hospital by providing essential general governmental services.This Intergovernmental Support Agreement represents a significant continua-tion in the partnership between Beaufort County and our esteemed local military installations. The IGSA provides a meaningful way for local jurisdictions to offer support to these installations and their overall missions. By extending our services, we not only enhance the operational efficiency of these vital facilities but also un-derscore the support of the county for the men and women who serve our nation at these facilities.'
