b'Board of Voter Registration and ElectionsThe Board of Voter Registration and Elections manages registration of Beaufort County voters and administers elections in a manner that instills confidence in electors that they are actively participating in a fundamental component of rep-resentative democracy. In addition to the November 7 election, the Board of Voter Registration and Elections conducted four educational Community Forums throughout the Coun-ty in 2023. Forums aims to educate voters on the election process and new laws that have been put in place that may affect voters on election day.2024 is shaping up to be a busy year for the Board of Voter Registration and Elections. Since coming under her leadership the Veterans Affairs office has assisted over 800 veterans.The mission of the VA is to assist the Beaufort County veteran population and their dependents in obtaining their fullest Department of Veterans Affairs and state of South Carolina benefits, including VA compensation and pension, DIC/Widow pension, referral to VA medical care, burial/memorial benefits referral to National Cemetery, and more.In 2023 the Veterans Affairs office also hosted the annual Beaufort Veterans Day Parade, the Wreaths Across America Mobile Exhibit, and other educational events and ceremonies honoring Veterans throughout the County.Beaufort County Community Services Grant ProgramAwards $398,000 to Local Non-ProfitsBeaufort County Council voted unanimously to approve the Human ServicesDepartments recommended recipients of the 2023 Community Services Grant Program.This initiative is designed to support non-profit organizations that serve our community.These grants aim to strengthen the network of local services, enhancing thewell-being of Beaufort County residents.The grant applications underwent a comprehensive evaluation by a diverse volunteer panelcomprised of community representatives and stakeholders.
